Typically, a production plant is busy, looks unwelcoming but it is the brain center of any manufacturing industry. The focus of a production plant is to produce goods and services of the right quality, right quantity, at the right time and at minimum cost. It also tries to improve efficiency.
The comparable term for a production plant in the Bible is the threshing floor. In the scripture, a threshing floor is a place of separation and revelation. A place where the harvest was prepared by separating the grain from the useless straw for the purpose of exposing and collecting the most valuable part of the crop.
Both bear similar characteristics such as:
- New inventions and breakthroughs takes place
- Physically rough and unattractive.
- Accidents are expected occurrences because of the stressful production process.
- Trading is normal. Labor and hard work is the trademark.
- Refinery process where raw materials convert to valuable substance as impurities are removed.
- A lot of pain due to the conversion process.
- End result is always positive – new products, valuable services, answers to prayers.
Given the paradoxical nature of both the production plant and the threshing floor, only those on a mission go there – they are bold, desperate and never quits!
As in pregnancy, there is travail before the blessing. The same holds true in prayer: We must persevere, as some strongholds and many blessings are only wrought through gut-wrenching, soul-searching prayer. When we travail in prayer, God hears the cries of His children, at the threshing floor!
A threshing floor is a production plant – a place where needs are met, lives are transformed, nations are birthed, and products and services are produced.
