“I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint. Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.”

‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT

‭‭This generation seems to have lost the ability to wait. We want instant gratification in most instances for our endeavors. Some people refer to it as the “microwave syndrome.”

But the Holy Book states:

”This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it   surely take place. It will not be delayed.“

‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We cannot attain a vision, rather, we must live in the inspiration of it until it accomplishes itself. We  oftentimes rush into the practical work of the vision and fail to notice when the vision is fulfilled. Oswald Chambers opines;  “Waiting for the vision that tarries is the test of our loyalty to God.”

How do you wait?

  •  In the scripture, the word “wait” means “to hope, to anticipate and to trust.” Your trust, or hope must be in the Lord and His Word; not your ability, experience or the experts’ ability.
  • Trusting in the Lord requires faith, patience, meekness, long suffering, keeping His commandments , enduring till the end. ”This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.“ ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬
  • Refrain from needless fear and worry; remind yourself that your past worries, fears and anxieties did not yield the needed outcome.
  • Be prayerful; turn over your fear, anxieties and worries to God in constant prayer.
  • Be thankful for what you have and what you’re anticipating. Read Colossians 4:2
  • Recall how God faithfully fulfilled His promises to those who waited patiently for Him- Abraham waited for 25 years before he got his Isaac; Moses, Caleb, Joshua etc all waited and endured the wilderness in the hope of God’s purposes. Job waited through pain but God made his latter years greater that the former; David endured all manners of persecution and hardships before he was finally enthroned as King over both Judah and Israel; Jacob waited for 14 years before he could have the love of his life – Rachel

What are your expectations; what are you anticipating or desiring in this season of your life? No matter what it is, even though it is slow in coming, wait for it. God always makes all things beautiful in His time!
